MUSIC ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE UNIVERSE

OTOSOTU (pronounced “Oh-Toe-So-Two” for “On The Other Side Of The Universe”) fully edited sans musical score, I was overjoyed to schedule a recording session for Friday next week to meet at the JET Progress sound studio with outstanding composer, musician and longtime close friend, Zachary M. Oliver and “get down to business.” That business: creating the score for OTOSOTU.

Having provided an award-winning score for our previous film, WINNOWING, that was perfectly noir-minimalist using a single acoustic guitar, we have discussed a score for OTOSOTU that would be futuristic (befitting the movie’s unique SciFu genre), hard and “scientific” in character, yet with under-and-over-tones soft and humanistic, maybe ethereal and soul-like using an electric guitar. If anyone can do it, it will be Zach!

As for what kind of “music” to which the ethereal beings on the other side of the universe might “listen” I doubt, being reminded they don’t have ears or emotions like those of us living on this side of the universe, it’s not rap, hip-hop, hard rock or even country-far-western. I’m imagining they listen to the spontaneous, unbounded “music” of their inner selves that is simply part of their being. Their existing. Help me here, Zach! Help me as you get into character to create the score for OTOSOTU!
